Our Sponsor-A-Family is back for another year!
This marks our third year running this meaningful community program, and every year, we’re amazed by the generosity shown in our community by those who help make the holidays brighter for families across the district.
Each one of these elves represents a family supported through Esprit Place Family Resource Centre (our Gender-Based Violence program) or our Special Priority Policy (SPP) for Community Housing, which gives survivors of abuse and trafficking priority access to RGI (community housing) assistance. The intent of the program is to ensure that housing is not a barrier to leave a situation of abuse or trafficking.
Your support truly makes a difference in their lives every day, and especially during the holiday season.
Some frequently asked questions:
Q How much do we spend on the family?
A Though we do not have any guidelines for this amount so all can participate, the average amount donated is between $50-$100 per person in the family.
Q Why gift cards?
A So that we can empower our participants to engage in the spirit of the season by purchasing for the needs of their family. They know their children’s sizes and needs best.
Q Can we send in ANYTHING other than just gift cards?
A Gift cards are preferred. However, some people wish to make it more personal by adding to add small toy or hats and mittens or socks to their offerings. The choice is yours, and this is absolutely not necessary.
Q Can we get a donation receipt for the sponsorship?
A Yes – we are a charitable organization, and all donations will receive a receipt.
If you’re interesting in sponsoring a family, here are the instructions on how to proceed.
- FIRST – Contact us to be allocated a family number (jblower@psdssab.org or 705-746-7777 Ext. 5264)
- Once a family number is confirmed, clearly label your sponsorship with the family number
- IN PERSON DROP OFF: Call first prior to delivery at (705) 746-7777 ext 5264 to set up a time to ensure that someone is here to accept your sponsorship in person. Upon delivery, please have your gift card, receipt for the gift card so that we can provide you with a donation receipt, as well as your full name, address, and the family # you’re sponsoring.
- MAILED DONATIONS
- You may mail your sponsorship in an envelope, clearly labeled with the family number you are sponsoring , and ensure you include your full name, mailing address and a copy of the gift card receipt.
- Mailing address: 1 Beechwood Drive, Parry Sound, Ontario, P2A 1J2All donations must be received by December 12th to ensure timely delivery to the families.
